About Dr. Dana Houck

My name is Dr. Dana Houck and since 1989 I have worked with individuals and families to help them over come difficulties and challenges that come into their lives.  I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with a Doctorate both in Psychology and Ministry and a Spiritual Director.

I have a Spiritual understanding of life and see the challenges of life to be based in the soul and its expression.  I believe that God is attempting to get your attention and wants you to become more than you ever thought was possible.   It only takes working with your own soul to feel the presence of God each and every day.

Many years ago I too, went through a “dark night” process which changed my life in a positive way, enabling me to become and experience more than I thought possible.  I have personal experience of that life doesn’t matter and now see it full of possibilities.

I have also worked with people in various churches as well as in prisons enabling them to develop themselves into a center and grounded individual that are now able to confront the difficulties life throws at them and see them as possibilities for growth and times of development.

I have learned the language of dreams and use them to guide myself and individuals into living the “blueprint” that has been established just for them.  When you walk the path given to you, and no one else, live will have greater meaning and doors of possibilities open in unique ways.

Credentials

For those of you who care about credentials here are mine.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Minnesota, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota, specializing in depression, anxiety couples therapy, spiritual direction and soul recovery.  I am also an ordained United Methodist Clergy.  I graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1981, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the North American Baptist Seminary in 1991.  I also graduated in 1993 from South Dakota State University with a Master of Education in Counseling and Psychology and in 1995 I finished my Doctor of Education degree in Counseling and Psychology.

I have served congregations in various states since 1970 as clergy.  I have been practicing as a therapist since 1993.  I am also a Licensed School Counselor in Minnesota.

My therapeutic approach is based on the psychology of C. G. Jung and his belief that all problems in life have a spiritual basis.  I use dream interpretation to assist individuals to find their path in life so you may live a full and fulfilled life.  There is a path inside yourself and in life with your name on it, our task is to find it and enable you to walk it with dignity and energy.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
